2011 isn't even over and we are already taking bookings for Valentine's Day! As a result we have created a fabulous four course set menu, to include a glass of champagne or a Bellini cocktail, for only £42 per person. The Valentine's menu will be available from Saturday 11 February 'til Saturday 18 February inclusive. Bookings for Valentine's Day itself are already well advanced so early reservations recommended. Christmas and New Year period opening times. The Penny Black Restaurant will be closed from 24-27 December inclusive, reopening for dinner only on Wednesday 28 December, then subsequently as normal. The restaurant will close again from 1-5 January 2012 inclusive, opening for dinner only on Friday 6th and open as normal for lunch and dinner from Saturday 7th onwards, with a full Sunday service from 10am on the 8th.

An updated wine menu has just been released with an extended range of fantastic Burgundy and Bordeaux wines, such as a Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru from Nicolas Potel, St Estephe 2eme Cru Classe from Chateau Montrose and a Margaux 2eme Cru Classe from Chateau Brane Cantenac. Tuesday BYO! We are starting a Bring Your Own night every Tuesday. For a nominal £8 per bottle corkage, you can bring your own bottle of wine leaving us to do the work and cook!

Christmas bookings are now very much under way and several key dates are already fully booked. Our private dining floor has been reconfigured to allow us to cater for up to 36 persons seated. Bespoke set menus and canapé offerings are being created daily to suit each client's requirements and we are looking forward to hosting some very special events over the festive season. NEW SUNDAY BRUNCH! From 10am. We have started a lovely Sunday Brunch from 10am, featuring fabulous dishes such as smoked haddock, poached eggs and hollandaise, potato rosti with mushrooms in cognac cream, and beautiful buttermilk pancakes with English bacon and maple syrup. We have updated both our lunch and dinner offerings. 2 and 3 course set lunch menus are now available for £17 and £21 respectively, Tuesday to Saturday. A £32 3 course set menu runs all day Sunday. The Penny Black Restaurant has been shortlisted for the finals of the Louis Roederer Imbibe Wine List of the Year 2011.
"This is a rarity. A 100-bin wine list where every listing is available by the glass or half-bottle carafe, with a decent tasting note to match. It isn't too cheap (this is Chelsea), but the list is welcoming and helpful. Matthew Clark and Louis Latour dominate, but the upside is Latour's Echezeaux Grand Cru by the glass."

The Penny Black Restaurant Chelsea Flower Show 2011 Lunch Menu as a PDF

In support of the Chelsea Flower Show by the Royal Horticultural Society, The Penny Black Restaurant is extending to flower shower ticket holders a 10% discount off the food and drink bill at the Restaurant, for either lunch or dinner. This offer is valid for the duration of the Chelsea Flower Show (24 - 28 May 2011) and a ticket must be presented to the Restaurant.
The Penny Black Restaurant is proud to be a supporter of English Wine Week, a week-long (from 28 May to 5 June) celebration of English still and sparkling wines, organised by English Wine Producers. The Penny Black Restaurant will be showcasing some spectacular English wines from the likes of Chapel Down, Biddenden and Nyetimber and will be offering a specially matched food menu to accompany each variety. The Penny Black Restaurant will be featured in a forthcoming episode of the hit show "Made in Chelsea" on TV channel E4. To coincide with our television debut (!) we will be launching our long-awaited list of signature cocktails that features such aptly-named drinks as "The Chelsea Tractor" and "The Chelsea Blazer". More information in the next few days!
